At the heart of our wine philosophy is the idea that when dining out, you should be able to enjoy stunning wine at fair prices in a relaxed & convivial atmosphere. We work very closely with our wine suppliers, (which unfortunately means we have to taste a tremendous amount of wine!) to ensure that the most exciting wines appear on our list. From classic old world wines to the up- and- coming stars of the future, we believe there is a little bit of something to please everyone on our wine list.
Over the last seven years we have been privileged to meet some very exciting winemakers who have travelled from all over the world to talk wine at our fantastic ‘Vine and Dine’ evenings. Great names such as South Africa’s formidable Ken Forrester & Martin Meinert; and David Palmer & Michael Kerrigan from Australia to name but a few.
Ken’s F.M.C Chenin, a true Icon of the new world is an absolute must, and you may not have tried Aussie Shiraz like Dave’s ‘Basket Pressed’. We’ve also managed to visit some winemakers hard at work on their vineyards.
Hattingley’s Classic Cuvee is a delicious local alternative to Champagne & is made on the doorstep here in Hampshire. With delicate elderflower notes, it’s English countryside in a glass!
At The Chesil Rectory, we have strived to compile a list full of great wine that we know and love, that we have a personal connection with and that we very much look forward to sharing with you, dear customers.
