The Chesil Rectory is a unique and historic restaurant located in Winchester which occupies a 600 year old grade II listed Medieval house of exceptional character and charm. Independently owned since 2008 by a small group of friends who share a passion for food and wine, the Chesil Rectory offers a modern British menu featuring simple, classic, seasonal dishes and an abundance of fresh local produce.

Decorated with vintage chandeliers and beautiful botanical prints, our intimate dining rooms are relaxed, peaceful and brimming with authentic charm. Perfect for lunch with friends, a romantic dinner,  light weekday suppers, business lunches or a mighty Sunday roast.

Our Chefs use an abundance of seasonal, local produce from our Hampshire doorstep to create our delicious menus. All the menus feature simple, classic dishes brought up to date with a twist.

 We politely remind customers that children’s high chairs are not available during dinner service.

The Christmas Party Menu for group bookings

Christmas is coming & we look forward to welcoming you!

Our Christmas Party Menu is available 1st – 24th December from Monday to Friday lunchtimes & evenings & must be ordered by the whole table. The party menu is for groups of 8 or more, & we require menu choices to be placed prior to the reservation.

Please note we are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays until the 13th December, however we are open 7 days a week after the 13th until 24th December.

The Chesil’s Festive A la Carte is available on Saturdays & Sundays, with Sunday lunch running as usual throughout December.

On Christmas Eve we will be offering our Festive A La Carte, please book early to avoid disappointment.

Deposits & party bookings

We kindly request a deposit of £10 per person to secure reservations which is then deducted from the final bill on the day & on New Year’s Eve we require a 50% deposit. For groups or parties over 8 guests, please contact a member of the management team on 01962851555 or manager@chesilrectory.co.uk. We will be delighted to discuss menus, drinks receptions & seating options. Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations made within 72 hours of the reservation date.

Children

We understand Christmas is a time for families & friends of all ages to get –together & well- behaved children are absolutely welcome. However please be aware of the limitations of a Medieval building ie: no baby -changing facilities & a very steep staircase. Please also note there isn’t a separate children’s menu as such, but we can offer half portions of our menus dishes for children under 12 if requested. Unfortunately highchairs are not provided in the evenings.

Allergens & dietary requirements

Please don’t hesitate to inform us at the earliest opportunity if a member of your party has any dietary requirements. All our dishes are prepared individually to order & Chef is able to cater for any allergens or special requests as long as he knows in advance!
