The Chesil Rectory is a unique and historic restaurant located in Winchester which occupies a 600 year old grade II listed Medieval house of exceptional character and charm. Independently owned since 2008 by a small group of friends who share a passion for food and wine, the Chesil Rectory offers a modern British menu featuring simple, classic, seasonal dishes and an abundance of fresh local produce.

Thank you so much for your continued support during these challenging times.

We would like to reassure you that despite the Government’s announcement & the 10 pm curfew, we are ready to welcome you!

We’ve adapted our menu & our service times & introduced new safety measures to ensure guests & staff will feel protected, safe & happy.

Our evening food serving times will now be earlier & we’ll open 5 pm – 8 pm with limited covers, social distancing & one single knockout menu.

Our Chefs have created beautiful seasonal dishes & we’ve selected an exciting new wine menu.

We’d really appreciate if you would please try & book an earlier time slot if at all possible.

Due to our limited covers, we are asking for all tables to pay a deposit of £10 per person which will be deducted from your bill on the night. It’s refundable up to 48hrs before your reservation – please call the restaurant for cancellations.

Decorated with vintage chandeliers and beautiful botanical prints, our intimate dining rooms are relaxed, peaceful and brimming with authentic charm. Perfect for lunch with friends, a romantic dinner,  light weekday suppers, business lunches or a mighty Sunday roast.

Our Chefs use an abundance of seasonal, local produce from our Hampshire doorstep to create our delicious menus. All the menus feature simple, classic dishes brought up to date with a twist.

 We politely remind customers that children’s high chairs are not available during dinner service.
