The Chesil team had a fabulous evening at Lainston House, celebrating 25 years of Hampshire Fare.  The food group was set up in 1991 by a handful of local farmers keen to work together to spread the message about the high quality local food available across the county.

Over Christmas, our lovely customers helped us to raise a whopping £1,027 for StreetSmart, a charity that provides support to the homeless & vulnerable.

A huge thank you to all our customers who donated & supported us! Our contribution will make a positive difference to individuals who have, for whatever reason ended up on Hampshire’s streets with nowhere to call home.

Our delicious new Autumn menu is brimming with local seasonal faves: wild rabbit & wood pigeon from the good folks at Alresford’s Blackmoor Farm; rich, savoury chestnuts, tasty Stockbridge wild mushroom; juicy blackberries & velvety squash. No wonder it’s Chef’s favourite season.

We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join our talented team at the Chesil Rectory. If you’re hardworking & passionate about food, we would like to hear from you!

Assisting in the day to day running of this historic restaurant & maintaining its high standards. It is essential you are able to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, with outstanding customer service skills and attention to detail. Working well in a small dedicated team & with excellent written & spoken English & basic IT knowledge.

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Restaurant Manager’s role will have previous restaurant supervisory experience within a quality environment ideally of rosette standard preferably with some wine knowledge. 

This could be an ideal opportunity for a Supervisor looking for progression or an Assistant Restaurant Manager looking to gain more experience. 

Salary and Benefits:

The Salary for this permanent role of Assistant Restaurant Manager is negotiable depending on experience.  You will also receive a generous share of gratuities and an array of company benefits.

The Best Of “Britt”!

The Chesil Rectory held a special one -off fundraising dinner on Monday 18th May with BBC Masterchef finalist, Sven Hanson Britt .

A whopping £2169 was raised through ticket sales & the event was generously match funded by Basepoint Winchester , bringing the grand total for the night of £4338 for local charity Winchester Young Carers.

The talented MasterChef finalist from Bishops Waltham, attended Peter Symmonds College before becoming Sous Chef at The Ritz. He joined for one night only, the Chefs at Chesil Rectory to help raise money for Winchester Young Carers. A sumptuous 5 course local menu was served celebrating Hampshire in Springtime.

The popular city centre restaurant donated all ticket proceeds from the night to the local independent charity which provides a service for Young Carers aged 8-17 throughout the Winchester district.

Owner Mark Dodd added “We were delighted to have such a talented Chef join our team for the night. I would also like to thank all our staff & our wonderful regular customers who bought tickets & ate so generously!”
